Remedial Investigations

Kahl Environmental has provided remedial investigations at hundreds of contaminated sites and facilities regulated under various federal, state, and local programs. Many of these assignments have included subsurface investigations of petroleum releases, solvents, and heavy metals. These investigations often lead to pilot testing and feasibility studies in support of a Corrective Action Plan. Our remedial investigation teams have utilized almost all available drilling methods to access and sample subsurface soil and groundwater. This includes solid-stem auger rigs, hollow-stem auger rigs, air percussion/rotary, mud rotary, cable-tool, bucket rigs, direct push rigs (geoprobe), soil gas probes, and backhoe trenching. The key services relating to remedial investigations include:
- Preparation and implementation of site-specific workplans
- Regulatory consultation and negotiation
- Drilling, sampling, and monitoring well construction
- Chemical fate and transport assessment and modeling
- Evaluation of health risks
- Development of risk-based cleanup levels
- Analysis of remedial alternatives and preparation of conceptual designs
- Expert testimony and litigation support
- Preparation of Corrective Action Plans
