Toxic Mold Surveys

California Governor Gray Davis has signed a bill that directs the state Department of Health Services (DHS) to develop standards for mold exposure. With the signing of Senate Bill 732, the Toxic Mold Protection Act of 2001, California has become the first state in the country to develop standards for permissible exposure limits to mold. More importantly, it also requires owners and landlords of commercial and residential property to disclose the presence of toxic mold -- in amounts exceeding the new exposure limits -- to prospective buyers and current tenants.
Kahl Environmental offers toxic mold surveys for commercial office and industrial buildings with potential mold issues resulting from chronic moisture problems and/or water damage. Microbial contamination can result in building occupant respiratory illness and infection, especially among those with compromised immune systems. Fungal and bacterial proliferation may occur in buildings with excessive moisture in building materials, carpeting, and ceiling tiles or in an HVAC system. We conduct indoor sampling of these sources using a variety of techniques to determine the species and concentration of airborne fungi and bacteria. Based on the investigation results, Kahl can provide for remedial solutions to reduce, eliminate, or control microbial contamination. Kahl also offers follow-up services ranging from clearance sampling (in the case of biological contamination projects) to contractor monitoring.
