Site Assessment

Environmental site assessments are conducted to gather information about chemical impacts to land and/or groundwater from current or past use. KES conducts many types of site assessments depending on the nature of the suspected problem and the objective of the client. The process begins with an on-site inspection and often requires the preparation of a workplan. Most subsurface investigations require the use of a drill rig, hydraulic push rig, backhoe, or hand-operated sampling device to provide for the collection of subsurface samples. Groundwater investigations usually require the construction of monitoring wells to allow for periodic assessment of groundwater quality. Samples are usually sent to a certified laboratory for chemical analysis or analyzed on-site using a mobile laboratory. All geological, analytical, and historical data are interpreted by in-house registered geologists and/or Registered Environmental Assessors.
The field and laboratory data is incorporated into written reports to satisfy the requirements of clients, lending institutions, and/or regulatory agencies. Most of our site assessment reports contain computer-generated graphics showing an interpretation of subsurface conditions. If remediation is necessary, the report becomes the basis for the cleanup effort.
KES provides full-service remedial investigations including capabilities for workplan and health & safety plan preparation, soil, air and groundwater sampling, installation of monitoring systems, contaminant dispersion modeling, regulatory compliance consulting, and remedial investigation reporting.
