Pollution Prevention Services The business community is rapidly learning from experience that it is far less costly to prevent environmental pollution problems than to clean them up. In addition, regulatory penalties for non-compliance with environmental regulations have been increasing. Most industrial and commercial pollution results from faulty or inadequate controls in their operations and/or systems. Most problems can be avoided through diligent planning and implementation of sound management procedures or "Best Management Practices" (BMPs). KES offers many services to assist with preventing or minimizing pollution issues. Process Wastewater Discharges In the area of process waste discharges, new regulations and increased regulatory enforcement is forcing industry to struggle in meeting compliance standards. KES offers assistance with wastewater pretreatment, compliance sampling, NPDES permitting, TMDL compliance, and reporting. Stormwater Stormwater regulations are new to many sectors of industry, but are becoming more established as the federal and state governments implement the myriad of regulations being promulgated. Our professionals have considerable experience with both industrial and construction permit programs as well as the NPDES program. KES offers permitting assistance, preparation and implementation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, compliance sampling and testing, and BMP training. Chemical/Fuel Storage KES has been working in the area of underground and aboveground storage tanks (UST's and AST's) since 1991. Proper storage of fuels and chemicals is critical to the bottom line of a business. KES constructs containment compounds for ASTs, installs ASTs, and offers a variety leak detection/containment services for USTs such as dispenser containment pans, leak detection systems, and system upgrades. KES also provides UST to AST conversions. DryCleaners Drycleaning facilities that utilize perchloroethene (PCE) or similar solvents are at risk of creating substantial environmental liabilities. KES provides BMP audits and installs pollution prevention devices such as containment pans, epoxy coating of floors, drain removals/repairs, venting systems, and machine upgrades. |
